Micaela from Texas
Tell us your name, age and your state-in-life!
My name is Micaela Aguilar, and I’m 31 years old. I’m a stay-at-home mom taking care of my young children with the help of my husband.
Where are you located?
We live in far west Texas in a small town named Marathon.
Are you a cradle Catholic, convert or revert?
I’m a cradle Catholic.
What’s been the biggest game changer in your Catholic faith?
The biggest game changer for me in my faith was college. Through mistakes, tough decisions and just growing up in general, I figured out who I was and that is first and foremost a Catholic.
Name a saint you identify with and share why.
I definitely turn to Our Blessed Mother the most for her intercession, especially now that I’m a mother. On so many levels, I identify with her in that way. The struggles and pain we endure as mothers can often feel unbearable, but the love we are able to give and receive makes it unlike anything else. I know she experienced all the feels of motherhood at some point in her life, so I think that’s why I identify with her the most.
When have you felt most valued as a woman in the Church?
I have felt most valued as a woman in the church after I had kids. I used to think kids were an inconvenience and didn’t want any myself. It wasn’t until I had my first born that my eyes were opened to the wonderful role that women play in our faith.
What’s your favorite way to pray?
Adoration is my favorite way to pray. No distractions, just me and my Father.
Favorite liturgical holiday?
The entire Lenten season and Holy Week are my favorite.
What do you do for fun?
I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, and writing.
Three words that describe you — go!
Compassionate, strong, brave.
